Edgewater ,FL. (Apr 06, 2018) -
Boston Whaler donated $2,000 to its local Red Cross organization to assist communities affected by last fall’s Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. On Tuesday, April 2, Whaler hosted a group of representatives from the American Red Cross Florida’s Space Coast Chapter for a presentation of the check, followed by a group tour of the manufacturing facility.
“Our hearts go out to the residents whose homes and businesses have been lost or damaged by the recent devastating hurricanes. Our hope is that this donation will help the Red Cross in its continued relief efforts throughout our area,” said Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler. “We’re grateful to the many employees who contributed toward this cause and who continually champion the spirit of community.”
Last year, employees from Boston Whaler and its sister companies were invited to donate to the Hurricane Relief Fund, established in response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The fund’s primary purpose is to help employees recover from damage from the storms. Employee contributions from across the global organization totaled more than $20,000, an amount that was matched by parent company Brunswick Corporation to add another $20,000.
After relief money had been distributed to employees in Texas and Florida who were affected by the storms, the amount remaining in the Hurricane Relief Fund was then reallocated for distribution to local Red Cross organizations in the affected communities, per the fund’s policy.
“We appreciate the support we get from the community where our employees and their families live, work and play,” said Kevin Grodzki, Brunswick Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs. “We hope that this contribution from Brunswick employees and the company can further help the community recover from the storm and assist those in need.”
Rebecca DeLorenzo, Executive Director for American Red Cross Florida’s Space Coast Chapter, said: “It is because of the generosity and the thoughtfulness of donors like Boston Whaler, with their deep roots in our community, that the Red Cross is able to succeed in assisting those affected by disaster. We are so grateful to Boston Whaler for their continued support.”
