Edgewater, Fla. (Aug 31, 2015) - It wouldn’ t be the start of a new school year without Boston Whaler s annual Boatload of Backpacks fundraiser. For the fifth year in a row Boston Whaler delivered 50 backpacks to three local elementary schools to help aide students in need.
President Huw Bower and a group of Whaler staff trailered the 170 Dauntless full of 150 backpacks and overflowing boxes of additional school supplies to Edgewater Public School, Indian River Elementary and Burns Science and Technology Charter School. At each destination, young, eager faces awaited the delivery, ready to help and thankful for the gifts.
We love giving back to the community as often as possible, Bower said, and sparking excitement in the young minds of these students is a gift in itself. We look forward to doing this for many years to come.
Each backpack included notebooks, crayons, pencils and other necessary supplies to get students through the school year. The supplies were donated by Whaler employees, and then were matched by the company to double the donation.
