Edgewater, Fla. (Aug 26, 2014) - Boston Whaler held its fourth annual “Boatload of Backpacks” fundraiser to help kick off the new school year, donating 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to three local elementary schools. The backpacks were distributed by each school to classrooms with students who may need additional support throughout the school year.
Burns Science and Technology Charter School, Edgewater Public School, and Indian River Elementary each received 50 backpacks and two boxes of copy paper. A group of Boston Whaler staff members, including President Huw Bower, arrived at each school towing a 170 Super Sport filled with supplies. The students eagerly gathered around and helped to unload the colorful shipment, which included notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers and more.
“All of us at Boston Whaler are proud to support our local community. Education is fundamentally important, so we’re happy to contribute in a way that helps young students prepare for a successful academic year,” said Bower. “Boatload of Backpacks has become an event we look forward to every fall.”
