As summer rolls along, make sure your captain stays refreshed with these five easy mocktails. Grab a cooler of ice, your shaker and the ingredients for any of these fun and simple drinks. With these delicious, not-so-boozy beverages, your captain is sure to have fun and stay safe at the helm.
1. The Mariner's Mule: For your sophisticated skipper, here’s a captain-safe take on a summertime classic!
Ingredients:
2 oz ginger beer
1 oz lime juice
1 oz passion fruit juice or mango fruit juice
Fresh thyme sprigs
Instructions:
In a shaker, muddle a few thyme sprigs. Add lime juice and passion fruit juice, then shake well to infuse the flavors. Fill a copper mug with ice cubes and strain the mixture into the mug. Top off with ginger beer and garnish with a sprig of thyme.
Serve and enjoy!
2. Captain's Reserve: If you're a Southern sweet tea lover, this mocktail is the perfect summer night drink.
Ingredients:
2 oz black tea (chilled)
1 oz spiced apple cider
0.5 oz maple syrup
0.5 oz lemon juice
Dash of bitters (optional)
Apple slice for garnish
Instructions:
In a glass, combine black tea, spiced apple cider, maple syrup, lemon juice, and a dash of bitters. Stir gently then fill the glass with ice cubes.Garnish with a slice of apple.
3. Berry Sailor Smash: This delicious mocktail is for the whole family! This simple berry juice drink is easy to make and can be enjoyed by the whole crew.
Ingredients:
2 oz mixed berry juice (such as cranberry-raspberry blend)
1 oz lime juice
0.5 oz maple syrup
2-3 fresh basil leaves
Soda water
Mixed berries for garnish
Instructions:
In a shaker, muddle fresh basil leaves (tip: roll, fold, then tear the basil leaves if you don’t want to bring a muddler on board!). Add mixed berry juice, lime juice, and maple syrup. Shake well to infuse the flavors, then fill a glass with ice cubes. Strain the mixture into the glass and top up with soda water. Garnish with mixed berries!
4. Seafarer’s Sunset: This is a spicy margarita mocktail that’s perfect for a hot boat day.
Ingredients:
2 oz orange juice
1 oz lime juice
1-2 slices of fresh jalepeño (depending on your taste)
Instructions:
Rub a lime slice around the rim of the glass and dip in salt. Fill the glass with ice then add jalapeño slices. Pour orange and lime juice over the ice then stir. Enjoy!
5. Melon Mojito: This fun, summer mocktail is just as refreshing and hydrating as it is delicious!
Ingredients:
2 oz watermelon juice (you can also blend your own watermelon to bring on board)
1 oz ginger ale
1 oz lime juice
0.5 oz honey
Fresh mint leaves
Soda water
Instructions:
In a shaker, shake the honey and watermelon juice together until smooth. In the bottom of a large glass, muddle the mint leaves and add ice. Strain the watermelon juice from the shaker and top with ginger ale and club soda. Stir and garnish with mint!
